The John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County Perinatal Center is one of the ten designated Perinatal Centers in the State of Illinois and a tertiary care center for the network hospitals. Our services include a 52-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where we care for extremely premature newborns and infants, referred from network hospitals and other Illinois hospitals, with special health needs. We are equipped with a highly skilled neonatal transport team.
Our team takes on a multidisciplinary approach and incorporates expertise from a full spectrum of pediatric, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, and nutritional specialties. We understand that parents may feel stressed or overwhelmed with having a baby hospitalized in the NICU. Throughout the NICU admission, our team works closely with the infants and their families to promote bonding and provide education, training, and support to ensure a smooth transition for going home.
The delivery room, OR, NICU and newborn nursery are all conveniently located on the 4th Floor of Stroger Hospital in a newly constructed Women and Children’s Center.
