Fellows will practice their simulation skills by assisting in the implementation of educational programs provided at the Cook County Simulation Lab. Fellows will assist and serve as co-instructors for simulation programs. Currently, the Sim Lab operates about 15 hours each week, but it’s utility is rapidly increasing. Initiatives to be implemented soon include:
- Combining efforts with ACLS, PALS and BLS certification and recertification
- Critical Care team training
- Orientation and credentialing new residents starting at Cook County Hospital
- Preparation with regulatory compliance (eg. Joint Commission)
Fellows may initiate or assist in the development of new simulations and simulation programs of interest to them, in areas such as virtual reality, ultrasound guided procedures, and telemedicine.
