The Division of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery treats the full array of diseases that affect the head and neck area. Also known as “ENT,” we treat disorders of the ears, nose, mouth, throat, sinuses, voicebox, and upper windpipe.
For the ears, this includes hearing loss and ongoing infections of the ear canal and ear drum. We have sinus specialists to provide state-of-the-art treatment for ongoing nasal/sinus disease, as well as collaboration with the Neurosurgery for diseases of the skull base. Our pediatric otolaryngology specialist offers treatment for infants, toddlers, and children in association with the pediatric services at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital.
We have a comprehensive program to provide screening and treatment for cancers of the head and neck, which includes lip, tongue, oral, tonsil, throat, and voicebox cancer as well as tumors of the sinuses, ear, and neck. We conduct a weekly Tumor Board where we collaborate with oncologists of different specialties to develop customized treatment plans for each patient. The division also performs plastic and reconstructive surgery with attention to patients needing reconstruction after trauma or cancer therapy.
