There are approximately 400-500 neurosurgical cases performed each year in the Main Operating Rooms of the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, with additional cases of neurovascular procedures, performed by interventional neuro-radiologists in the Neuroradiology Suite.
There are four attending physicians in neuroanesthesia, one of which is also Board Certified in Neurosurgery. There are five full-time neurosurgeons with specialty interests in pediatric neurosurgery; neurovascular surgery; spine reconstructive surgery; stereotactic neurosurgery; posterior fossa surgery including acoustic tumors and microvascular decompressions; and general neurosurgery. In addition, there is a very active Interventional Neuroradiology Program at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
