Cook County Health & Hospitals System has been teaching doctors and providing care to the medically underserved since the mid 1800’s. In 1866 the first internship in the United States was started right here at the Cook County Health & Hospitals System, and it quickly became known for providing tremendous experience with a wide range of diseases.

Today the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County continues its grand tradition of educating doctors. The residents and fellows continue to diagnose and treat rare diseases in patients with limited financials resources. The signal internship way back in 1866 has blossomed into 22 residency and fellowship programs. Whether you are looking for information about a specific residency or fellowship program, are already a resident or fellow at Stroger, or have an upcoming rotation here, we would like to help you.
