John H. Stroger, Jr. Program Applicants

Program applicant contract, salaries, prospective residents and more.

Contract

Below is a sample of the contract that each resident and fellow will receive before starting here.

Salaries

The salary is negotiated every few years by the House Staff Association (housestaff union) and Cook County.  The link below has the current yearly salaries for our housestaff.

Applicants to Our Residency or Fellowship Programs

Thank you for your interest in the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital residency or fellowship program(s).  If you are coming here for an interview, you may want to review the following document that gives an overview of medical education at the hospital as well as salary and benefits.

Campus Map

We are located in the Illinois Medical District which is just south of the Eisenhower Expressway (US 290) and served by both the Pink and Blue lines of the CTA.  The campus map can help you navigate between Stroger buildings, University of Illinois and Rush.

Housing Options

One of our goals is to keep you from acquiring any infectious diseases from our patients as well as preventing transmission of these diseases to our patients from those providing the care.  In order to accomplish this, everyone that does a rotation at Stroger Hospital must complete an infection control form and supply the appropriate lab data prior to starting.

“It was a very fortunate situation…I was able to find him early and due to the excellent training from my attending physicians, I was able to react quickly to the situation.”
