Observerships and Shadowing
While the Cook County Health and Hospital System is happy to provide training to those pursuing degrees in the medical field, or those in post graduate training, we cannot provide “shadowing” or “observership” experiences. Our patients and their medical care is our number one priority and it is for this reason that we cannot make exceptions to this policy. Thank you for your understanding.
Criminal Background Check
The state of Illinois demands that all hospital caregivers undergo an initial criminal background check before contacting patients. In order to comply with this law we require that all students and residents from U.S. institutions outside Illinois provide evidence of a background check. In accordance with state law, all international trainees and those whose institutions do not require a routine background check must obtain a background check in Illinois through the Illinois State Police. Educational Modules

Housing Options
If you are not currently living in Chicago and need a place to stay, you may want to review our list of local hotels, apartments and hostels. We do not endorse any of the places listed.
Campus Map
We are located in the Illinois Medical District which is just south of the Eisenhower Expressway (US 290) and served by both the Pink and Blue lines of the CTA. The campus map can help you navigate between Stroger buildings, University of Illinois and Rush.
Infection Control Form
One of our goals is to keep you from acquiring any infectious diseases from our patients as well as preventing transmission of these diseases to our patients from those providing the care. In order to accomplish this, everyone that does a rotation at Stroger Hospital must complete an infection control form and supply the appropriate lab data prior to starting.
