Asthma & Allergy Awareness Month

Tagged with ,

Each year, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) declares May as its observance month. May is peak season for asthma and allergy sufferers and timely to educate patients, family and loved ones to awareness, prevention and control technique. Asthma is a serious, life-threatening respiratory disease affecting over 20 million Americans, and can be especially perilous for those exposed to environmental factors – found indoors and outdoors that act as ‘triggers’. Allergies are diseases of the immune system that cause an overreaction to substances called “allergens.” A few steps to control asthma/ allergies include:

  • monitoring your outside activities,
  • eating healthy,
  • avoiding smoking, and
  • exercising regularly
