Supervises and coordinates storekeeping services and activities for a County department in hospitals, residential institutions or other County departments involving extensive and diversified inventory. Receives deliveries of all materials, supplies and equipment. Disburses stock following standardized procedures. Prepares and submits requisitions for stock replenishment. Maintains a variety of log sheets to record deliveries. Performs miscellaneous duties pertinent to general upkeep of the storage area, inventory records and allocations, etc. Supervises the keeping of records of requisitions and stock disbursal following standard procedures. Accounts for all returned, spoiled or damaged items so that final inventories will balance properly. Conducts annual and random audits of inventory for accountability.
– High School Diploma or G.E.D is required. (Must provide proof at time of interview) – A minimum of two (2) years of storeroom experience which includes inventory, receiving, and distribution is required.
– Ability to supervise subordinate personnel is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
– Thorough understanding of modern storekeeping methods and procedures. – Ability to safely operate a variety of storeroom/warehouse equipment such as lifts, hand carts, dock plates and automated garbage compactors. – Ability to maintain written storekeeping and inventory records as warranted by particular situations. – Ability to apply basic mathematical skills to verify quantities of goods received and to maintain inventories. – Good communications skills; ability to convey information and explain basic storeroom policies and procedures to others in person or over the telephone. – Skill in exercising sound judgment relative to problem solving and referring problems in the appropriate manner. – Ability to understand and carry out spoken or written instructions. – This position requires various types of physical exertion including, but not limited to lifting, pulling, pushing and moving objects of moderate to heavy weight.
