Physician Assistant I – Emergency Medicine – Stroger Hospital

Cook County Health and Hospitals System (CCHHS), comprised of John H. Stroger Hospital, Provident Hospital, Oak Forest Health Center and various other ambulatory health clinics, provides health care to underinsured and indigent patients in Chicago and surrounding Suburban Cook County.
Under the direction of a licensed physician, the Physician Assistant will perform a variety of specialized and professional physician assistant duties requiring knowledge of emergency patient assessment and management. Work will rotate through all areas of the emergency department and the ED OBS unit. Physician assistants are expected to provide equivalent patient coverage to junior emergency medicine residents. Physician Assistants will work directly under the supervision of an attending or a senior emergency medicine resident.


  • Valid Physician Assistant license in the State of Illinois or be eligible for temporary certification as a Physician Assistant under the rules and regulations promulgated by the Illinois Department of Registration and Education or State of Illinois. 
  • Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Prior emergency department experience within the last three (3) years is required.
Degrees and transcripts from non-U.S. accredited institutions must be translated and certified to the US equivalent academic credentials by a recognized US education interpreter service.
Must successfully meet the credentialing standards established by the Cook County Health and Hospitals System to include a State of Illinois PA license and any other license, certification, or specialized training, etc.
