The Volunteer Department provides hospital departments with dependable, dedicated, friendly and trained volunteer staff to assist hospital staff with serving patients, their families and visitors.

The hospital’s volunteer program is committed to supporting our patients, families, and staff and the entire Cook County community.

Volunteer Resources provides hospital departments with dependable and qualified volunteers to enhance our mission.

Become a Volunteer

Because of the nature of care being delivered at the hospital, all volunteers are carefully screened and placed into appropriate assignments, and each volunteer must adhere to standard policies and procedures. The placement process includes:
  • Criminal background check
  • Health & immunization screening
  • Individual interview
This process is designed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients and families, as well as the confidence and success of volunteers.  Depending on their availability, volunteers commit to the weekday, evening/weekend, or summer program.

 

Qualifications

  • At least 14 years old
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Pass an employee health screening
  • Read and agree to a confidentiality code
  • Adhere to the hospital dress code

Volunteer Form

For information or if you would like to become a volunteer at Cook County Health and Hospitals System call 312-864-0387 or complete our volunteer form. The information on this form will help us to find the most appropriate volunteer service for you. Placement of volunteer positions depends on availability. Volunteer applications will be held for 3 months.
